Having a skincare routine is important, and having a simple skincare routine will help you stick to it.
My skincare routine can range from complex to simple, but when I’m too lazy and just too tired to do too much, I follow a simple skincare routine that’s effective.
So if you’d like to simplify your skincare routine keep reading for details.

CLEANSE
Cleansing your skin is important and absolutely necessary. So this has to be a step that you keep.
Grime and dirt build up on your skin and you need to get it off. How often you wash your face is up to you and your skincare needs.
One thing about cleansing your skin is you don’t want to over dry your skin. You also want to make sure that you have a cleanser for the different seasons.
So in the Summer you’ll use a stronger cleanser and in the Winter you’ll use a more moisturizing cleanser.
Here are some really good cleansers:
KATE SOMERVILLE ERADIKATE DAILY CLEANSER ACNE TREATMENT
PAULA’S CHOICE RESIST PERFECTLY BALANCED FOAMING CLEANSER
KATE SOMERVILLE GOAT MILK MOISTURIZING CLEANSER
BIORE DEEP PORE CHARCOAL FACE WASH
EXFOLIATE
This is important to a skincare routine especially if you have acne prone skin.
Exfoliating always makes my skin feel so much more refreshed and clean. It also helps to remove the top layer of dead skin for smooth, glowing skin.
Here are some of my favorites:
KATE SOMERVILLE EXFOLIKATE INTENSIVE PORE EXFOLIATING TREATMENT
THE ORDINARY AHA 30% + BHA 2% EXFOLIATING PEELING SOLUTION
DR. BRANDT POREDERMABRASION PORE PERFECTING EXFOLIATOR
This only needs to be done 1-2 times a week depending on what your skin needs.
MASKS
Masks are something you want to do 1-2 times a week depending on your skincare needs.
I have acne prone skin so I have to masks more often, but if you don’t have this problem then you can do it less.
A good mask can get the dirt out of your skin or help with anti-aging or clearing your skin.
I absolutely love masks, my skin always feels so much better after I’ve used one and I can see the difference.
Some of my favorite masks:
AZTEC SECRET – INDIAN HEALING CLAY MASK
BIORÈ BLUE AGAVE + BAKING SODA INSTANT WARMING CLAY MASK
GLAM GLOW SUPER MUD CHARCOAL INSTANT TREATMENT MASK
BIORÈ CHARCOAL INSTANTLY WARMING CLAY FACIAL MASK
SERUMS
Serums are a vital part of your skincare routine, this helps to target skin concerns that you may have.
So for instance if your skin is acne prone you may want to use a serum to help with acne.
Or if you have hyperpigmentation or rough texture, your serums needs will be different.
And if your looking for anti-aging then that will be a different serum. Or you can get on that targets multiple concerns.
My favorite serums:
THE ORDINARY NIACINAMIDE 10% + ZINC 1%
If your looking for more on this product check out The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 2% Review.
This serum targets anti-aging and acne. It also helps clear up your skin.
FACIAL OIL
I love facial oils because not only do they moisturize your skin but they can also be used to address skin concerns.
Again this can be for hyperpigmentation, anti-aging or skin texture. I really love using a facial oil to clear up my skin and help with dark spots.
An oil that I love and have been using for years helps with all of the above.
And that oil is Life-Flo Pure Rosehip Seed Oil | Organic & Cold Pressed.
MOISTURIZER
Even though the facial oils can be moisturizing your need a moisturizer that is cream based.
For me this is also based on your skin. If I used a moisturizer it tends to be too thick and clogs my pore so either I can only use the facial oil or I have to use a really light moisturizer.
But if you have drier skin then you need to go for something that is a bit thicker. It just depends on your skin type and your skincare needs.
Or depending on the season, so in the Summer you may need something lighter but in the Winter something thicker may be ideal.
Here are some lighter moisturizers:
SUMMER FRIDAYS CLOUD DEW OIL-FREE GEL CREAM MOISTURIZER
DRUNK ELEPHANT PROTINI POLYPEPTIDE FIRMING MOISTURIZER
THE WATER CREAM OIL-FREE PORE MINIMIZING MOISTURIZER
SUNSCREEN
So if your doing this skincare routine in the morning you want to make sure you use a sunscreen. Its so important to protect your skin from the sun.
There are so many damaging things the sun can do to your skin and these are things you want to avoid.
For instance the sun can cause dark spots as well as skin cancer. So protecting your skin is optimal especially when the sun it hot ex. the Summer time.
But you don’t want to only apply sunscreen in the summer, its beneficial to do it all year long.
Here are some sunscreens to try:
ELTA MD BROAD SPECTRUM SPF 46 TINTED
SHISEIDO ULTIMATE SUN PROTECTOR LOTION SPF 50+
SHISEIDO URBAN ENVIRONMENT OIL-FREE SUNSCREEN BROAD SPECTRUM SPF 42
SHEET MASK
This is an optional step but beneficial to your skin. Sheet masks add moisture to your skin, and can also target skin concerns.
Some can help redness or just be soothing. This is also great for selfcare regimes.

FINAL THOUGHTS
This is a simple skincare routine that you ca follow and not have to worry. There are also steps that are optional depending on your needs.
I love having a simple skincare routine especially on those days when I’m not feeling like doing much.
