I’ve been wearing glasses for years & always go to the store and spend too much. I needed to find somewhere to get cheap prescription glasses.
Recently I had a pair that, I had for about 4 years. I hadn’t realized it was so long especially with the pandemic and everything shutting down.
While trying to clean my lens I accidentally snapped my glasses in half and was so upset!
They just broke on me and I wasn’t even being that rough with them. And I didn’t have a spare. I had to use contacts and I don’t love wearing them all the time.
Contacts are great for a day out but when I’m home I like having my glasses. Also after a while my eyes start to get irritated with contacts.
So I was on the hunt for an affordable pair of glasses that were cute. I heard of Warby Parker before and did look them up but never used them for glasses.

What Is Warby Parker?
Warby Parker is and online glasses store. They do have a few locations were you can go into a store, but these locations weren’t close to me.
So I was happy they had an online service once you have a prescription you can pick a set of frames and get them online.
The good part about this is that the frames are way cheaper than they are in the store.
Which is great because when you go into some of these stores they add on so many services that you spend so much money. And some of those things are unnecessary.
At Home Free Try On
So one of the things that really interested me about Warby Parker is that they allow you to try on 5 frames at home.
This is great for seeing if you like the fit and how they look on your face, all for free!
They do ask for your credit card information and for you to create an account but this is to make sure you send the frames back.
Which I had no issue with, I picked 5 frames and they sent it to me within a few days.
I had 5 days to try them on and see if I liked them, then I sent them back with the free shipping label that was provided to me.
I paid nothing at all for the try on, which was awesome!
What Happens If You Don’t Have A Prescription?
So since it had been 4 years since my last eye test, I needed a new prescription to get new glasses.
But right before I broke my glasses I received an email from Warby Parker saying that they now do online vision testing if you feel like your prescription hasn’t changed.
This was perfect for me because I didn’t have the time to go into the store or doctors office to get a new prescription.
First you download the app and answer a couple of questions to see if your eligible to take the test online, which I was.
Then you take a test online where they ask you to read the letters same as when you go into the office or store and give them a copy of your old prescription.
It takes about a day, once the doctor reviews both they send you a new prescription. With this you can pick your frames and add anything you want and check out.
The cost f this eye test was $15, which is not bad.
What Are The Costs?
So after I tried on the glasses and saw which ones I liked and had my prescription it was time to place the order.
The frames that I chose were called Chamberlin and they were $95, this comes with a single vision lens for free.
So if I didn’t want anything else my glasses would have been $95. But I chose to add transitional to my lens, because the sun does hurt my eyes.
The cost of the transitional was $100, which is a pretty standard price. So in total I paid $195 for my glasses.
Which is probably the cheapest I have every paid without insurance.
This is super affordable compared to some of the prices I have paid at the stores.
After Purchasing Your Glasses
Another great thing is that after you purchase your glasses, if you have vision insurance you can file a claim.
When I say file a claim, I mean that Warby Parker works with some insurances.
So if you have out of network benefits you can file a claim with hopes of receiving some money back.
Now this is also dependent on your insurance and your benefits.
But it’s great to know that you can possibly get back some of the money you spent. Which would make your glasses even cheaper.
Buy A Pair Give A Pair
So this was another thing that really made me want to use Warby Parker instead of other companies.
Some of the other companies had cheaper frames but I went with Warby Parker.
They have a program where when someone buys a pair of glasses they give a pair of glasses to someone in need.

Getting My Glasses
So when I placed my order, they needed one more thing from me which was my pupillary distance.
They made this so easy all you had to do was take a pic with the back of a credit card under your nose and upload the pic.
Once I did that they got it right away and sent me a message to let me know that my glasses were in process.
They gave me a estimate of two weeks for my glasses to arrive, which I was the happiest about but hey I had no choice.
So I waited and checked the tracking for any updated information. Then three days later the tracking said my glasses were delivered.
I got them and tried them on right away and was in love! They fit perfectly, feel really solid and look very stylish.
I was so excited when I realized it only took three days for it to be made and delivered!

Final Thoughts
I was so happy with my purchase from Warby Parker!
The price was great and the fact that they give back also made me want to do business with them.
And they came so quickly! This really shocked me because I know when I would go to the store it would take at least a week for them to call me and tell me my glasses were ready.
Everything was so quick and easy, I was able to do everything needed and get my glasses within a week or so.
This was awesome! And I will definitely be using them again.
Let me know in the comments below if you’ve tried buying glasses from Warby Parker before and if so what was your experience like?
If no would you be willing to give them a try?
