One of the ways I love taking care of my hair is using masks, that’s why I decided to create a list of 10 DIY masks for damaged color treated hair.
I love using store bought masks for hair treatments but I also love using a DIY mask when I feel like my hair really needs it.
DIY masks are great for treating many different hair conditions.
Here are 10 great masks that you should try.

Detox Apple Cider Vinegar + Aztec Healing Clay Mask
This mask is great for adding moisture to your hair. It’s also good for removing excess oil and dirt from your scalp.
The detox mask is great if you have dry damaged hair and also if your hair is brittle.
If your hair is on the drier, more brittle side you’ll want to use this mask a couple times a week. If not then you can use it once a week.
How to make:
1-2 tablespoons of bentonite clay
1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
(Ingredients depend on hair length & thickness)
Then slowly add in the apple cider vinegar while mixing. You want the mask to be easy to apply to the hair. Not too thick but not too watery.
Then apply this mask from root to ends. Make sure your hair is evenly coated. This mask should only be left on for 5-10 mins at a time.
Bentonite clay can be drying if left on too long.
Coconut Oil + Honey + Avocado Mask
Coconut oil is a very popular oil especially for hair treatments, this is because there are so many benefits from using it.
Some of those benefits are that it can help prevent the loss of protein in the hair, the structure of the coconut oil makes it great for absorbing into the hair easily, and it helps prevent damage when using before or after washes.
Honey is also a really great ingredient for hair masks. Honey is an emollient & a humectant which are great for moisturizing the hair.
Emollients smooth the hair follicles adding shine to dull hair. Humectants help retain moisture, which is great for hair.
Avocados are a great source of biotin which is great for hair growth. It also has Omega 3 fatty acids and essential amino acids, this can help add moisture to the hair. Avocados are for damaged, dry hair.

And as discussed before honey is great for the hair because of the emollient & humectant properties.
How to make:
1-2 eggs
1-2 tablespoons of honey
Again ingredients depend on the length & thickness of your hair.
After mixing the ingredients together apply from scalp to the ends, leave on for 20-30 mins and then rinse out the egg mix with cool or cold water.
You do not want to use hot or warm water when removing this egg mixture from your hair.
